StartSLC is billed as the largest grass roots technology and startup festival to ever be held in Utah. The event will close with a funding pitch competition worth $250,000 to three winners in three different categories. “We’re glad the event organizers see the value in our products to give us the opportunity to secure needed funding,” said PicoCluster co-founder Craig Brown. PicoCluster will present in the preliminary competition, held at Church & State on January 21, 2015 at 1:10 p.m.
Big Data is a $100 billion industry growing twice as fast as the software business as a whole. But that growth is creating a shortage of programming talent. PicoCluster’s Personal Data Center concept reduces equipment and operational costs which allows more people to train and become qualified technologists. Additionally, the software component of PicoCluster transforms Big Data software like Hadoop, ElasticSearch and Cassandra into a simple interface to accelerate training for new users.
